Form I-485 is the application to register permanent residence or adjust status. Our service focuses on the paperwork: entering the answers you supply, organizing your records, checking for missing entries and signatures, and assembling a copy for you to review. You remain responsible for the accuracy of your answers.
Tell us which forms you need prepared. If your planned packet also includes I-864, I-765 or I-131, we can discuss those preparation services and confirm what is included in the quote. Legal questions about which forms to file or when to file should be resolved with an authorized legal representative.
What to bring to your appointment
- Your passport or other identity documents and available entry records, such as an I-94.
- Birth and marriage records, relevant divorce records, and translations you already have.
- Previous USCIS notices, receipt numbers, and copies of earlier applications.
- Address, employment and travel histories needed to complete your selected forms.
- Petition and sponsor records that are part of your filing, if applicable.
- Any checklist or written instructions provided by USCIS or your immigration attorney.
This list helps you prepare for a document appointment; it is not a complete USCIS filing checklist. Evidence, medical-exam documents and other requirements depend on the basis of the application. Follow the current official instructions and any case-specific notice.
How the preparation service works
- Discuss the paperwork. Contact us with the forms you want prepared and the records you have.
- Confirm the scope and quote. Agree on the forms, applicants, preparation work and any separately charged services.
- Prepare and review. We organize your supplied information and records. You review the answers, names, dates and supporting documents.
- Complete the packet. Address missing information and required signatures, retain your copy, and follow the applicable filing instructions.
Preparation time depends on the documents and work involved. We confirm an estimate after reviewing the scope. Document preparation does not shorten or guarantee USCIS processing.
Service charges and government fees
Ask for a written preparation quote before work begins. Confirm the forms and number of applicants covered, and whether translation or additional preparation is included. Asal's service charge is separate from USCIS filing fees, medical-exam charges and other outside costs.
Check the current government fee and instructions for each form directly with USCIS before submitting. A service quote is not a government fee calculation.
Questions before you book
Can you tell me whether I qualify to file I-485?
We provide document preparation, not legal eligibility advice. A licensed immigration attorney or other authorized legal representative can assess eligibility, filing strategy, prior denials or immigration-court issues before you ask us to prepare paperwork.
Is this the same service as renewing a green card?
No. This page concerns I-485 adjustment-of-status paperwork. Green card renewal or replacement, removal of conditions, and employment-related I-485J paperwork are separate services with their own form guides.
Do I have to live in Columbus?
Clients across Central Ohio can contact our Columbus office. We serve clients from one Morse Road office; the names of nearby communities do not represent separate Asal offices. Call before traveling to confirm your appointment and what to bring.
Does paying Asal include government fees or guarantee approval?
No. Our document-preparation charge is separate from government filing fees and other outside costs. Confirm the scope and service quote before work begins. USCIS makes its own decisions, and we cannot guarantee approval or government processing times.
